چکیده

This paper presents a technique of surface field reconstruction for nonseparable geometry based on the boundary element method and the singular value decomposition. The sound sources are axisymmetric bodies with arbitrary boundary conditions. The hologram data are got from a cylindrical surface that encircles the source. By the use of axisymmetric property of the body, the two-dimensional integral formulation is reduced to one-dimensional integral along the generator of the body, as the pressure and normal velocity on the surface is expanded in a Fourier series with regard to the angle of revolution. The Fourier coefficients can be evaluated by using elliptic integrals and Gaussian quadrature formula. An improved SVD method is given to get the generalized inverse of the complex matrix. The acoustical quantity on the source surface can be calculated by inverse transformation. The method is tested on numerically generated data.

Self-noise prediction of a sharp-edged strut using a quasi-periodic CFD-BEM technique

The self-noise generated by a sharp-edged strut immersed in low Mach number flow is predicted using a hybrid computational fluid dynamics (CFD) boundary element method (BEM) technique. The fluctuating flow field is obtained using an incompressible CFD solver. A high-order reconstruction scheme is used to extract acoustic sources based on Lighthill’s analogy from the flow field data. Acoustic wa...

A Robust Extrapolation Method for Curtailed Aperture Reconstruction in Acoustic Imaging

Acoustic Imaging based sound localization using microphone array is a challenging task in digital-signal processing. Discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based near-field acoustical holography (NAH) is an important acoustical technique for sound source localization and provide an efficient solution to the ill-posed problem. However, in practice, due to the usage of small curtailed aperture and its ...

A particle accelerated CFD-BEM technique applied to aeroacoustic scattering

A particle accelerated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) boundary element method (BEM) technique is proposed that allows the total sound pressure field produced by low Mach number flow past a rigid body to be predicted. An incompressible CFD solver is used to calculate the transient hydrodynamic flow field. The CFD/BEM coupling technique is then used to compute the acoustic pressure and pressu...

Using Boundary Element-Based Near-field Acoustic Holography to Predict the Source Pressures and Sound Field of an Acoustic Guitar

(Near-field Acoustic Holography, Audio Production, Guitar) In recording studios, the placement of microphones to record an acoustic guitar is very much subjected to trial and error and audio engineer preference. In order to make more informed microphone placement decisions, Near-field Acoustic Holography is used to study the sound pressures of the guitar. This technique involves solving the int...
